Makarim & Taira S. has represented Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Singapore Branch, Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, in the granting of a term loan facility amounting to US$150,000,000 to PT United Tractors Tbk, a major and prominent distributor of heavy equipment in Indonesia, with PT Astra International Tbk as its majority shareholder (“UT”). The facility was guaranteed by UT Heavy Industry (S) Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of UT and will be used for among other things the refinancing and repayment of UT’s current debts, the indirect acquisition of a mining company and UT’s general corporate funding requirements.

Makarim & Taira S. represented PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk. in a syndicated loan equal to US$125 million from 11 financial institutions. The proceeds will be used to refinance existing debt, capital expenditure and working capital.

Makarim & Taira S. represented Lehman Brothers acting as the Sole Bookrunner and Manager in relation to the offering and issuance of US$88,000,000 11% Guaranteed Senior Notes due 2011 by Davomas International Finance Company Pte Ltd.

Makarim & Taira S. is representing Malaysia Retail Group Ltd in the ongoing tender offer of shares of PT Courts Indonesia Tbk, a company operating in retail trading of electronic products, furniture and household appliances.
